This is the second big home interior renovation Mark has done for us and we had absolutely no hesitation contacting him again.
This time he built a new wall to split a long, large room in half, which created a new ‘studio’ (with five metres of mirrored wardrobe) and a spacious laundry/utility room. Mark worked hard to build a curved pelmet, replace windows, construct a fabulous cupboard, replace an exterior door, assemble shelving and cabinetry, add new ceilings … and a whole lot more! The areas he had to work with included a number of columns and beams – a far cry from regular rooms with square corners and flat ceilings. This was not a straight-forward job by any means! Nothing gets the better of Mark, and his problem-solving skills are second to none. His attention to detail, ability to come up with innovative solutions, and natural perfectionism, is why we wanted to work with Mark again. He did an outstanding job and we are absolutely delighted with the end result; with the new layout of our downstairs rooms improving our living areas immensely. Talented, honest and dependable.

Mark came highly recommended to us from a number of friends and we were not let down. The job was to replace weatherboards on our house.
Importantly, we found he was not only very talented at his craft, he was also honest, completely dependable and a really hard worker. When he was finished, Mark cleaned up so that you would not have known he was there and even left the scaffolding for a few extra days so we could get the painting done with ease. He was very competitively priced and explained different cost options for our job, putting us immediately at ease. Stress free renovation.

Mark Doig came highly recommended and we couldn't be happier with his workmanship and the end result.
Mark fully renovated our main bathroom, ripping out the entire room, replacing ceiling, walls insulating, plastering and installing new shower, vanity, mirror and bath. He is hard working, a man of his word, and never let us down. He cleaned up at the end of every day and removed all rubbish at the end. Having young children and pets, this was huge in safety. Sheer perfection.

As a result of a burst pipe in our bathroom, which caused a flood, we quickly called Mark and arranged for him to renovate both our ensuite and bathroom.
The ensuite needed to have the floor dug out to create a slight angle enabling the water to drain away in our new ‘wet room’. Mark worked hard to make sure everything was satisfactory and the end result was sheer perfection! Mark is friendly and polite and always tidied up at the end of each day. Rental revamp.

Our rental property was in dire need of a big tidy up before we could rent it out to the next tenants.

Disaster recovery.

After a massive storm in early 2017, our downstairs self-contained granny flat was a disaster zone to say the least. Ceilings caved in and the place was a swimming pool!
We were planning on renovating anyway so looked at it as a blessing in disguise. We put plans in place and then went to work sourcing the ideal contractor for the job. Being part of the Pohutukawa Coast community, we like to support our local tradespeople if we can. Mark Doig is a local builder in Maraetai and was happy to work with us. A dream come true.

We had been planning how our apartment should look for nine years, so to say that our ideas and plans were 'set in stone' would be an understatement!
When Mark started work, he listened to every word. He is a quiet and diligent worker with incredible attention to detail, offering fantastic advice, solving any issues that arose, and was willing to work hard to achieve everything we had been imagining for so long. It was literally like watching a dream come true whilst our new apartment took shape and after Mark left each day, never once did we say, 'that's not quite what we wanted'. Great craftsmanship.

Mark Doig built our deck last year (2017), not an easy build at 5m x 9m and 3.5m off the ground, consented, so every thing had to be precisely to drawing.
Mark achieved this accurately, efficiently and skilfully, with the end result being aesthetically pleasing as well. The council inspector not only passed the build with flying colours, but also complimented the craftsmanship.
